There are six types of elder abuse that families must be aware of when caring for a senior family member - physical, emotional, sexual, financial, neglect and abandonment. Estate settlement deals with all the financial assets of a testator and therefore is vulnerable to financial abuse. Families and executors should be aware of any ownership or will changes that appear to be made without clear consent from the testator. Legal counsel should be considered if there are any discrepancies related to financial abuse.
