Wonderful experience during a difficult time, about half way through the estate process we decided to move on from the lawyers and do this ourselves. Kay and everyone at the Kent County Register of Wills were extremely friendly, patient and helpful. Even the officer at the security gate was super friendly today when we went to close the estate. Thank you all for making a tough situation easier.
This review is for the Kent County Recorder of Deeds Office on Bay Ave in Dover, DE. On 7/23/14, I called to get the lender name of a property & the lady answering the phone said I had to drive in to the office to get that information. After I told her that the NCC would do it over the phone on the spot, she said if I called next week they might be able to do the same thing but not anytime this week because 3 people had off. After going back & forth she could have looked up the address but decided she didn't want to help me. Since the NCC Recorder of Deeds had a fabulous 21st century online database you could look up properties for FREE I went to the online Kent Co database and they want $50 for a 30 day access. REALLY! I guess we will never lose the Lower Slower DE (LSD) tag line if we continue to offer below satisfactory service compared to other counties above the canal....and other states for that matter. It's very sad that you can't get people to help you and their websites are behind the times in LSD. Hopefully with that $50 per person charge they can afford to upgrade their systems before the 22nd century.
