Pretty pathetic when people behind the counters don't want to help people with disability's use the computer to help e-file paperwork to start a case.
Limited hours due to covid 19. Understandable. However, neither the google page nor automated phone system reflected this. I spent an hour trying to call, then just drove to murphysboro to find them closed. I called back when they were open as instructed by the sign on the door. I assumed they were asking people to call ahead so they could take your information and have your documents ready(I needed a copy of my son's birth certificate) to minimize time in the building. Instead they merely informed me they were not taking cash at this time. Check or money order only. I have been at home for 2 weeks. As has the cash in my wallet. Instead, I'll have to make a second errand and get a money order at walmart, increasing risk of exposure for both myself and the courthouse staff. Obviously the situation is out of thier control, however, in my opinion, they are handling it poorly.
Everything they do is inefficient & very slow. They make Williamson County look like it has everything together & that's a joke! The Circuit Clerk can't even get my legal paperwork filed for months. If they schedule your court date, you'll be sitting for hours before your trial begins. They are reason enough alone not to live in Jackson County.
Even though these clerks are constantly dealing with a lot of stressed people coming in and out, they always display a kind, upbeat and helpful attitude. Very thankful for all you do!
