Went for Jury Duty, these folks have their act together!! I was impressed by how organized and simple they made the entire process. From parking to finding your way around the massive court house, it couldn't have been easier. I interacted with about 10 staff members and they were all very pleasant to work with.
Conveniently located across the street from the Rainbow Wedding Chapel at 440 W Adams Street, the Duval Clerk of Courts is just one of the many places in Florida to get a Marriage License. The Atlantic/Neptune Beach location is open and issuing marriage licenses. Any valid license in Florida can be solemnized at the Rainbow Wedding Chapel. Can't wait for the COVID 19 to be gone and we can return to business as usual. Nice folks there to help you with your marriage license needs. then walk across the street and we will marry you in an Express ceremony.
I see all the serious domestic abuse in Florida, many woman at genuine risk yet get little help from this court! Years ago an ex got a restraining order against me, I’m thousands of miles away, in another country , obviously no risk! Quite the reverse. Never even got to see my Son now not far off 18 so maybe soon. The last time I spoke to family court services they were polite but offered no solution. I don’t blame the individuals who work there, but one star as the whole system seems broken, and those at real urgent risk are not really supported, like the children left in the care of unfit people, and men who are abusive to partners but too have access to guns!
Calling and going through all of the menus are easy. The workers in the Probate department and Mental Health are super nice and always very helpful, so are the people in the records department.
The clerks are nice, but overworked. They're 6 days out for electronically recorded documents. One clerk even told me they are denying PTO requests, and asking them to work most Saturdays. 6 day lead time is not acceptable for electronically instantly transmitted documents. In comparison, most counties are 1-6hrs.
Most people don’t know, but the average person spends a year of their life, $14k, and 12 hours each week dealing with the probate and estate settlement process.
